ISPM-15 Regulation for Import and Export

Numerous countries have implemented the ISPM-15 regulation, which requires solid wood packaging material to be “treated” to stop the introduction and infestation of foreign pests. Compliance with ISPM-15 for solid wood packaging material allows for two options: heat treatment (HT) or Methyl Bromide (MB) fumigation. ISPM-15 requirements apply to all species of lumber.

Non-manufactured wood packaging materials used in pallets, crates, dunnage, boxes and bracing must be heat treated to 56 degrees Celsius for a minimum 30 minutes or fumigated with methyl bromide. Both treatment options require the WPM to be labeled with the dedicated IPPC mark as proof of compliance with all ISPM-15 regulations.
