It’s mandatory that every wood product used in international shipping is heat treated. Heat treated is a phyto-sanitary process developed by the International Plant Protection Convention. This process is used to prevent and control the spread of pests of plant and plant products. During this process, various wood pallets such as pallets, boxes, or crates are heated to a core temperature of 140 degrees. This has to be done at a minimum of 30 minutes to make sure that all insects and larva will not be able to survive. This means the pallet can now be used to ship products internationally and even be reused. Once it’s been through the heat treat process, Epallet verifies that it is stamped in order to be recognized and can be more efficiently transported.
